ANDOVER ROAD

2 STOREY REAR EXTENSION AND INTERIOR RE-MODELLING

The project involved the entire removal of the existing rear elevation wall and the client’s requirement was that there should be no interior vertical supports such as steel columns. The solution that evolved was to design and install a steel Vierendeel type girder truss to clear span a distance of about 9 metres between columns located at the side elevation walls.

KERRFIELD

INSIDE AND OUTSIDE: REAR EXTENSION AND INTERIOR RE-MODELLING

The rear of the house overlooks a superb view over a beautiful wooded valley. To take advantage of this the scheme involved, amongst other things, the creation of an 8 metre wide glazed opening in the rear elevation wall. This required the design and installation of a substantial steel portal frame to provide the required vertical support and for the lateral stability of the house structure.

THE ELEGANT AND STYLISH REAR ELEVATION

This involved the design of a ‘hybrid’ type of structure with a substantial reinforced concrete column on the right hand side and steel framing above and to the left hand side.
